W.I.P Wednesday

I am really excited about the sashing for my little Swoon quilt.  Hence my decision to share it on WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced with you all!  But then, I am easily excited about lots of things having to do with quilting!  When I started these blocks out of my stash (I am excited that I used my stash!) I had some fat quarters and also solid Kona in a pink so very light that it looks white against the batting.  I don't know the name of the color but I am, yes, very excited about it.

The fabric itself was leftover from one of my first quilts, long gifted to a dear friend.  SHE was very excited.  In thinking about the sashing for these blocks, I decided to use the strips that I had saved from that quilt, and subcut them as in this picture.

The strips were the entire Papillon collection, so my scrappy sashing was a dream for me, and looks wonderful in the quilt top.

If you look back on WIP Wednesday, you will see another great Swoon block!   I will use this pattern again, but I will probably use more fabrics for each block just as Kirsten did in hers!!

My last block was my favorite!!  Thanks for stopping by!!!

  1. I think this block looks really striking with the red. A whole quilt would be very eye catching and dramatic.

The red of the block certainly picks up the red in the sashing. I like the idea of being able to use up smaller cuts as you did with the sashing. It is very effective.

  2. Oh wow! I love the sashing. I linked to your previous post and mused that I was looking forward to seeing the completed version and here it is. The sashing sets it off perfectly. :-)
