A Block {or Two}
Once I made up my mind to start cutting, I actually found two blocks to work on. Since I couldn't make up my mind, block A or block B, I had to start on both! Why not, right? I won't have to buy too much fabric for the background, either, so we are in a win-win situation.
This particular block is a take-off on the log cabin and will be made in four colors, all shown here. Even the whites are actually whites and creams and even prints. I may need a few fat quarters but everything was basically from stash, even teensy tiny little scraps. I LOVE scraps.
Now these strips will be part of the sandwich block that Suz posted about and I loved right away! I've been pulling pieces from boxes and stitching and trimming. Did I mention I love scraps? For these blocks I will probably audition some text prints or something similar to complete the look but bring the scraps together.
Yea! I feel stoked, and I need to feel that way right now.

Glad to hear you are excited and stoked about sewing again. Yay! I really love log cabin blocks, and I like how they can get movement when they are pieced with different widths on the 2 sides like you did in your block. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThat sandwich block is so much fun. I can't wait to see your version and I think I might put that on my list of To Do's!
